82nd Oscar award is comming soon…watch the official website  and .org site

The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, are presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS)[1] to recognize excellence of professionals in the film industry, including directors, actors, and writers. The formal ceremony at which the awards are presented is one of the most prominent award ceremonies in the world. It is also the oldest award ceremony in the media, and many other award ceremonies such as the Grammy Awards (for music), Golden Globe Awards (all forms of visual media), and Emmy Awards (for television) are often modeled from the Academy. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences itself was conceived by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio boss Louis B. Mayer.

ar rahman wins oscar award

Last year…A R Rahman proved once again why he is a composer who stands apart in the crowd. He was awarded two Oscar awards, for Best Original Score and Best Song in the movie. It was the song ‘Jai Ho’ which won the much acclaimed award and Rahman provided a glimpse of his brilliance as he performed it live at the Oscars. The other award which he received was for original score in the movie.  The entire team of Slumdog Millionaire was ecstatic after grabbing 8 Oscar awards thereby making it appear like a one sided affair!

Google to say bye..bye..China

Google Inc. will stop censoring its search results in China and may pull out of the country completely after discovering that computer hackers had tricked human-rights activists into exposing their e-mail accounts to outsiders.  Google Inc. will stop censoring its search results in China and may pull out of the country completely after discovering that computer hackers had tricked human-rights activists into exposing their e-mail accounts to outsiders.

As part of its investigation into that incident, Google stumbled onto another scam that was more successful. Google said dozens of activists fighting the Chinese government’s policies fell prey to ruses commonly known as “phishing” or malware. The victims live in the United States, Europe and China, Google said. Only two e-mail accounts were infiltrated in these attacks, Google said, and the intruders were only able to see subject lines and the dates that the individual accounts were created. None of the content written within the body of the e-mails leaked out, Google said. Phishing involves malicious e-mails urging the recipients to open an attachment or visit a link that they’re conned into believing comes from a friend or legitimate company. Clicking on a phishing link of installs malware – malicious software – on to computers. Once it’s installed on a computer, malware can be used as a surveillance tool that can obtain passwords and unlock e-mail accounts. To know more news from Gulf news and CityAM

Microsoft DirectAccess – Windows server 2008 R2 with Windows 7

Microsoft’s is connecting Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 for connect-anywhere access using DirectAccess technology

DirectAccess is a way for Windows 7 clients to securely connect the corporate network from any location without  any traditional VPN. It encrypts bidirectional connection between the enterprise domain and the client device prior to the user logging on to the system, allowing admins to manage the remote machine via Group Policy and it physically connected to the network and always stays on. This is very useful for network administrator to troubleshoot the server. Greater functionality means greater hardware and software requirements.

The following list of DirectAccess requirements comes directly from Microsoft TechNet:

One or more DirectAccess servers running Windows Server 2008 R2 with two network adapters:
One connected directly to the Internet, and a second connected to the intranet.
On the DirectAccess server, at least two consecutive, public IPv4 addresses assigned to the network adapter that’s connected to the Internet.

DirectAccess clients running Windows 7.
At least one domain controller and DNS server running Windows Server 2008 SP2 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
A public key infrastructure (PKI) to issue computer certificates to the protection for traffic.

IPv6 transition technologies available for use on the DirectAccess server: ISATAP, Teredo, and 6to4. Optionally, DirectAccess runs over IPv6 and only connects to Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2008 with SP2 and most of the network are still on IPv4. In order for DirectAccess to communicate over the Internet, bridging protocols such as 6to4 or Teredo have to be used to encapsulate IPv6 packets over any IPv4 medium or network device.

Google launch new smart phone – NEXUS ONE

Google has just unveiled its own smartphone, the Nexus One, upping the stakes once again in the smartphone arena. Unveiled at Google headquarters in Mountain View, California earlier this morning, the Nexus One is powered by a new version of Android (Google’s operating system for smartphones) and the hardware has been designed by Taiwanese handset maker HTC. Earlier online leaks were pretty accurate on the phone’s form factor, technical specifications and pricing details. You can pore over the technical specifications here. There’s plenty of features that will make geeks happy. Like its fast 1GHz processory, roomy 3.7-inch LED-based touchscreen display and 5-megapixel camera. The updated Android OS looks very slick with its animated and interactive background wallpapers and 3D-like user interface. More info and video, click here

The smartphone’s ubiquitous speech recognition feature is a surprise feature addition, allowing you to do a Google search or enter text, whether it’s for an e-mail or a note, simply by speaking into the phone. The double-microphone feature that cancels out background noise for clearer calls sounds promising too. Thanks to its cutting-edge software and hardware, Google has even dubbed it a “superphone”.
