Dell Boomi Upgrades Its Cloud Gateway

AtomSphere SAAS application integration platform handles transfer of data between cloud-based and on-premises applications — and no appliances, software or coding is required.

Dell’s new cloud integration division, Boomi, has introduced several new features to its enterprise platform, which helps companies move to cloud computing while not disturbing the production use of their existing IT.

AtomSphere Spring 11, launched April 26 as the latest incarnation of Dell Boomi’s cloud integration strategy, features new capabilities for middleware connectivity, large-scale data management and migration, and “anywhere-type” integration monitoring.

The AtomSphere SAAS (software as a service) application integration platform handles transfer of data between cloud-based and on-premises applications—and no appliances, software or coding is required.

Microsoft iSCSI Software Target 3.3

The Microsoft iSCSI Software Target 3.3 provides storage (disks) over a TCP/IP network. It turns a computer running Windows Server into a storage device which provides shared block storage. iSCSI Software Target is an optional Windows Server component that provides centralized, software-based and hardware-independent iSCSI disk subsystems in storage area networks (SANs). One scenario involved using Microsoft  iSCSI Software Target in a “two-node Failover Cluster,” with 92  Hyper-V virtual machines storing data to one of the nodes. Finally, Microsoft iSCSI Software  Target 3.3 supports the remote booting of diskless computers “from a  single operating system image using iSCSI.”

You can use Microsoft iSCSI Software Target 3.3 to perform a variety of storage-related tasks, including the following:

  • Provide shared storage for Hyper-V to enable high availability and live migration
  • Consolidate storage for multiple application servers (i.e. Microsoft SQL Server or Hyper-V)
  • Provide shared storage for applications hosted on a Windows failover cluster
  • Enable diskless computers to boot remotely from a single operating system image using iSCSI

The Microsoft iSCSI Software Target 3.3 is an economical solution suited for a development or test environment and a small, medium, or branch office production environment. It enables storage consolidation and sharing on a Windows Server by implementing the iSCSI (Internet Small Computer Systems Interface) protocol, which supports SCSI-block access to a storage device over a TCP/IP network. The product  can be installed in a Hyper-V virtual machine. It doesn’t work with a core  installation of Windows Server 2008 R2.

Dell MD3000i SAN – 2 Disk failure scenario

If you have a 2 disk failure scenario on an MD3000i iSCCI SAN storage from DELL, Do not worry, because the internal firmware of the RAID takes care, even if the Hotspare disk gets failed. Here is a typical scenario, which happened to me where, DISK 9 gets failed and at the same time HOTSPARE disk also failed. Thanks to DELL support team. You have to notice one thing that when you replace the disk, first replace the DISK 9 with the new one and the SAN rebuild the data automatically and once you get the status as “Optimal”, you then replace the HOTSPARE disk with new one.

Enjoy!!!

Windows server 2008 to 2008 R2 upgrade – need to know

When you upgrade your server from Windows server 2008 to Windows server 2008 R2 upgrade, make sure that you write down all the IP’s related to each port, include SAN IP’s using iSCSI. The reason its because after you upgrade to Windows Servr 2008 R2, all the IP you setted up manually for the system, no matter whether it is local ip or SAN ip will be resetted and you have to do it manually again.

This is for your information that you should take a screen shoot or write it manually somewhere.
